New York City Food Tour
With the foundations group we went to NYC for the weekend and saw a LOT of art and ate some great food. Here is a summary of my little food adventure.
Wisefish Poke
This was the best food find this trip! It was super tiny and quiet, we got there right as it opened and I got a bowl called West Swell with white rice. It had ahi tuna, sweet onion, herb mix masago, wisefish sauce, and wasabi avocado cream. The wasabi avocado cream was soooo good. Perfect balance of creamy and spicy. I will definitely be returning here to try something else off their menu. Price for the meal was $12.

Momofuku Milk Bar
I had watched the Chef’s Table episode and was super excited to try something here. The prices were so unreasonably high, a single slice of pie is $6. I split one with Clara, and it was delicious, but still… $9 for a slice of cake and $49 for a whole cake! I was a little shocked.
Cosmic Diner
After walking for a few blocks after getting off the subway at Columbus Circle, we decided to stop and eat at the Cosmic Diner. I got one of their specials, a grilled chicken panini with avocado. The bread was fantastic, probably my favorite part of the meal. The menu was kind of odd though, it had a TON of dishes on it, and they were all really diverse. Food was decent but I wish the fries were jazzed up with some kind of cool sauce or something. Price for the meal was $16
The Smith
We went here for brunch on Sunday, I had pancakes with whipped ricotta, toasted pecans, and an absolutely delicious salted caramel sauce. I think it was a bit overpriced, $17 for a stack of pancakes, but the flavors were great and it was a really enjoyable meal.
Wegmans
We stopped at Wegmans on the way back, I got a mixed raw salmon sushi tray and a pack of peanut butter M&M’s. I had not tried that particular sushi mix before and it was pretty good 🙂 Price was $13.
